You can edit treatments, set withdrawal times for competition, scan the drug's barcodes, cancel courses of medication and add custom drugs.

Here is how to edit treatments, set withdrawal times for competition, scan the drug's barcodes, cancel courses of medication and add custom drugs.

Editing a previously recorded treatment or medication for your horse

If you wish to edit a previously recorded treatment or medication for a horse you must follow the steps below. Select ‘Find Horse’ on the home screen. Here you must select the horse you wish to add a second microchip. You can search for it by name, barn, dam or recent. Once you have selected the horse, you will be brought to the horse's profile.


How do I edit a previously recorded treatment?

On the horse's profile select Add/Edit Notes. Here you must select the treatment or medication you wish to edit from the list. Slide the note to the left and you will be able to view two icons. A bin/trash can icon and a pencil character. Here if you wish to delete the treatment select the bin/trash can icon. If you wish to edit the note, select the pencil icon. When you select the pencil icon you can edit the date and time of the treatment as well as the quantity or the route. Once you have edited accordingly you must then select confirm. This edit treatment or medication will be marked as edited with a date/timestamp and the name of the user you edited it.


How to set the withdrawal period for medications (competition rules)

How do I change competition rules for an individual horse?

If you would like to set or change the competition rules for an individual horse you must search for the horse you wish to set competition rules for. On the home screen of your EquiTrace select the top button which says ‘Find Horse’. Select this button.

You will then have a full list of your horses on this screen. You may filter this screen by Name, Barn, Dam, and Recent. You can also search by horse name. Once you’ve chosen your horse you will select their name and arrive on their profile. Scroll down and select ‘Change Competition Rules’. Here you will have an option to select your desired competition authorities. If your horse is not involved in competition, you will select the top button ‘Horse not involved in Competition’. If your horse is involved in competition choose 1 authority your animal is competing under. You may choose from the following: HISA Regulations, Quarter Horse Racing, US Standardbred Racing, AQHA Guidelines, WV, LA Thoroughbred Racing, USEF Guidelines, FEI, European Racing, Racing Australia, NO-SE-DK. Once you do so, all your medication withdrawal times will be calculated as per that competition authority, considering the route, dosage and frequency.

Once you select the authority you prefer, select done on the top right and it will save.

​How do I change competition rules for all my horses?

You can also adjust ALL horses competition rules in your app simultaneously. Go to your home screen. Select other features. Scroll to the bottom of other features and select 'Competition Authority'. If your horses are not involved in competition you will select the top button ‘Horse not involved in Competiton’. If your horses are involved in competition you must select the authority your animals are competing under. You may choose from the following: HISA Regulations, Quarter Horse Racing, US Standardbred Racing, AQHA Guidelines, WV, LA Thoroughbred Racing, USEF Guidelines, FEI, European Racing, Racing Australia, NO-SE-DK. You may also choose to 'Edit Custom withdrawal times'. Once you have selected your desired competition authority press 'Done' on the top right-hand corner of the screen and your choice will be saved.


How do I scan a barcode when giving a medication?

Scanning a barcode is much quicker and more accurate than inputting a medication manually, you can do it by following the step below.

When giving a medication and you wish to scan the medications barcode you may do it by following the steps below. On the home screen of your EquiTrace, either scan your horses microchip if you have a scanner connected or select the top button which says ‘Find Horse’. You will then have a full list of your horses on this screen. You may filter this screen by Name, Barn, Dam, Recent. You can also search by horse name. Once you have chosen the correct horse you will be brought to the horse's profile. Select ‘Treatments for this Horse’. You will then be brought to the Treatments page.

Once I input my medication how do I proceed to scan a barcode?

If you are recording a treatment select ‘Add New Drug’. You may then scan the drug’s box barcode by selecting ‘Scan Drug’. This will open your camera. You can point your camera towards the barcode of the drug and the app will scan this barcode and identify the correct drug. When you scan the drugs barcode you will then be recording the medication’s expiry date and its batch number for accurate recording. Scanning a barcode is much quicker and more accurate than inputting a medication manually.


How do I cancel a course of medication?

To cancel a course of medication you must follow the instructions below

To cancel a course of medication you must follow the instructions below. On the home screen of your EquiTrace App, select the top button which says ‘Find Horse’. You will then have a full list of your horses on this screen. You may filter this screen by Name, Barn, Dam, and Recent. You can also search by horse name. Once you have selected your chosen horse you will be brought to the horse's profile.

What do I do to cancel the medication course?

Select ‘Treatments for this Horse’. Once you have selected this you will be brought to the treatments page. Here you will be able to view scheduled treatments for this horse. If you wish to cancel this course of medication you must select ‘Stop this drug’. Once you select this, a popup will appear. If you wish to cancel, select Yes. Once you have done this, the scheduled treatment will be cancelled and disappear from the list of scheduled treatments.


My medication is not on the list of drugs, who do I contact to add a medication to the list of drugs?

If your medication is not on the current list of drugs within our app you can reach out to our team
If your medication is not on the current list of drugs within our app you can reach out to our team by emailing [email protected] with the following details and if possible, we will update your drug into our database. We will need a clear picture of the barcode and label of the drug. Where possible, please include details on the route/dose/concentration. It is possible that medications or treatments that are specific to you may not be included in our drugs database but you can email the team to find out.
